The Golden Fort

The Golden Fort also known as Jaisalmer Fort was built in 1156 AD by the Rajput ruler Rawal Jaisal in the Thar Desert of Rajasthan, India. The massive yellow standstone walls are a lion colour during the day which then fades to honey-gold as the sunsets. The fort contains 3 layers of walls. The outer is made of solid stone blocks that reinforces the loose rubble of Trikuta Hill. The second wall snakes around the fort. And the the third wall, the Rajput warriors once hurled boiling ol and water at their enemies, who became entrapped between the second and third walls.
